Excalibur: Global Pandemic Response Initiative

Excalibur Device

Excalibur, designed by Diana S. Engelhard's team, leverages technology to cut the infection chain effectively. Initially conceptualized in 2019, this project aims to address global pandemics by making disease tracking and containment more manageable through digital means.

Notable experts have recognized the potential of Excalibur by visiting and endorsing the project. Many of the software aspects built prior to the COVID-19 pandemic made its way to speed up development of the well known solutions distributed to the public on smartphones. It was commonly agreed that Excalibur still presents significant key advantages:

  • it is agnostic to the disease
  • it can handle multiple versions of a virus and even different diseases simultaneously
  • dedicated hardware produced in masses could protect anyone, anywhere, independant of age, social status and pre-existence of certain hardware
  • dedicated hardware would reduce complexity of software that needs to run on as many differnet devices and operating systems as possible
  • Excalibur presents a decentralized, fully privacy protecting architecture
  • Recognition and Awards

The initiative has garnered significant accolades including the BCG and Handelsblatt Vordenker*in Award, highlighting its preemptive approach to handling global health crises through Excalibur's advanced disease tracking technology, respecting privacy and security at the same time.
